Measuring for Shapewear

When it comes to online shopping, it can be tough to ensure you are getting the right size – we’re here to help! Making your selection for shapewear has a lot to do with what clothes you’re looking to wear them under, what kind of fit you’re looking for and what areas you’d like to target. If you’re not quite sure how to take body measurements for shapewear, below is our step-by-step guide on finding your shapewear measurements:

Step 1: Finding your bra size

When shopping for shapewear with a built-in bra, it’s important to get your most accurate bra size. One of the easiest ways to do this is to find your best-fitting bra and go with the size on that. However, if you think it’s time for a size change, grab a tape measure!

Finding band size

To find your band size, take the tape measure and wrap it right below your bust. The tape measure should be parallel to the ground and fit snug under your bust. Find the measurement in inches and round up if you see that it is an odd number. That’ll be your band size!

Finding your cup size

Take the same tape measure and wrap it around the fullest points of your chest. Ensure that you’re getting an accurate measurement by making sure the tape measure is tight but not creating an uncomfortable squeeze. Next, subtract this measurement from your band size. (Ex: If your band size is 30 and your bust size is 34, 34 – 30 = 4.) Each inch corresponds to your cup size.

Step 2: Measuring your waist

When measuring your waist size, you’ll want to take a tape measure and wrap it around the natural crease of your waist. If it’s not very apparent, you can always bend to your side a little to make it a little more obvious. Then, ensure that you’re standing up straight and that the tape measure is parallel to the ground when measuring. Get a snug fit around your waist then round up to the nearest whole inch.

Step 3: Getting your hip measurement

In order to get the most accurate hip measurement, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your hips below your waist, making sure once again that your tape measure is parallel to the ground and snug around your hips. The nearest whole inch will be your hip measurement.

Step 4: Take your measurements to the size chart

Now that you have all the measurements you need, you can take them to our handy dandy size chart! Taking the measurements you’ve gathered, find your perfect shapewear size!

When sizing shapewear, it’s always best to consider what you’re going to be wearing your shapewear under.
